(a) How well did your project work? What tasks did it perform?

The project worked very well. All intermediate aspects (on/off detection through computer vision, circuitry/hardware, IoT/integration, computer application with GUI creation) were functional. On a high level it was able to perform the tasks of detecting whether a specific stove burner was on/off by looking at the knobs and remotely turning off said burner. On a lower level, it was able to take an image of the knob configuration of a stove, send the image to a remote machine using a microcontroller and MQTT messaging, run computer vision and inverse kinematics code on the image on the remote machine to determine the state of the system and the angles each knob needed to be turned in order to reach an off position, send the angles back to the microcontroller, and run the motors a specific amount based on the calculated angle to reach the off position. Additionally, the project was able to fulfill the task of conveniently displaying information about the system to a user while also allowing the user control of the system, all through a remote application with a user-friendly GUI.
